My name is Edmund M. Regis and I am a residence of Cas–En-Bas / Gros Islet. I was born at Victoria Hospital in Castries on June 10th. I spent my early years at Maynard Hill within the Marchand community and thereafter at Bois Patat, Morne Du Don in Castries.
I attended pre-school at New Village and also at La Pansee and after the Anglican Infant and Primary Schools. During the years 1974-1979 I was a student at St. Mary’s College and after a student at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. I then proceeded to the University of the West Indies (St Augustine Campus/Trinidad) to undertake studies in Public Administration. Two (2) years after graduation I again proceeded to England to undertake post-graduate studies in Business Administration at Middlesex University.
My employment career spans over three (3) decades within the public service of Saint Lucia. Firstly within the Ministry of Communications & Works as a Clerk being involved in Customs Brokerage and Stores before being transferred to the Ministry of Planning, Establishment and Training with accounting responsibilities. Then I was again transferred to the Ministry of Communications & Works with full responsibilities for the Licensing Department. There after to the Office of the Prime Minister, with responsibilities for Human Resource as Assistant Secretary and subsequently promoted to Deputy Permanent Secretary. I was later transferred to the National Printing Corporation (NPC) as Manager with the primary focus of implementing an Administrative Reform Program. Currently, as of 3rd April 2017 I have been employed as the General Manager of the Water & Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO).
I served as a member of the Saint Lucia Junior Chamber International (JCI/Jaycees) for a number of years before starting my executive career within that organization as Treasurer, Vice President and then to the Presidency of the organization. I have also served on the executive of the Saint Lucia Civil Service Co-operative Credit Union, firstly as a Director and then President. Currently I am a Director of the Saint Lucia Fish Marketing Corporation and in my very early years served on the Executive of the St Mary’s College Past Pupils Association.
I am a Roman Catholic by way of religion and generally a supporter of sports especially football, myself being a player during all my school life.
My Christian faith has taught me to love my neighbour, which I exemplify profoundly at work and everywhere I am present. I believe in resolving issues not prolonging them, but through dialogue and compromise. I believe in progress and achievements. I am a humble person who believes in peace, quiet and tranquility. I believe hard work never kills but the results of hard work will last beyond a lifetime. I am a visionary, goal oriented and an individual that embraces change.
I believe that service to humanity is the best work of life.
